Meetings, Workshops, Official Visits and Hearings

For meetings, workshops, visits and negotiations with a small number of participants Consecutive Interpreting is recommended. The Interpreter is placed amongst the participants. At court hearings Interpreting will also be consecutive.

Consecutive Interpreting

For Consecutive Interpreting no sound equipment is used. The Interpreter translates the deliberation after the speaker has finished or when he or she makes a pause. The Interpreter usually takes notes to support his or her memory. When planning your event, please consider that the event will be twice as long, as the translation takes almost as long as the deliberation.

For a bigger number of participants, it might be wise to use a so called tour guide system. With this sound equipment, consisting of microphones and headphones, the Interpreting can be simultaneous.
